    The Stretch Zone Method® addresses flexibility from a neurological perspective. This is achieved by dealing with the muscle’s nervous tension (“tonus”) to reach an optimal active range of motion. The goal is not to make a person more “flexible” or “elastic,” but rather enable you to move more functionally by re-establishing a more ideal resting muscle tone. By re-educating the associated nerve-muscle reflex, the Stretch Zone Method® leads to movement becoming easier and more efficient.

    Rather than creating soreness by pulling on our limbs to extremes, the Stretch Zone Method® works through the nervous system to achieve lasting gains in flexibility and range of motion. The method rests on the notion that changing and re-educating our muscle’s nervous energy is a major factor in unleashing our body’s intended function. This nervous energy, known as the stretch reflex, is our body’s automatic defense against the dangers of over-stretching. Any movement that goes too fast or too far, or is held for too long, will cause your body to resist with the stretch reflex. Once the reflex is activated, your body has effectively said “no more” and resists the stretch. Any further attempt at stretching becomes counter productive and may even cause long term damage.

    Blake was born and raised in Nashville, TN. He attended Goodpasture High School, where he played football.He attended Tennessee State University to play football and study Exercise Science. After college, Blake continued his football career playing professional arena football. He played at the professional level until he was 26 years old. Playing a contact sport for that many years really is was started making Blake place a greater emphasis on making mobility and flexibility a priority for his performance and preparation. He began finding ways to use straps to assist stretching himself. He got to the point where his "self stretching" methods weren't working well enough, so, he sought out a chiropractor to get stretched. Looking for something to scratch that competitive itch, Blake started competing in Strongman competitions. He has been working in the Health & Wellness, and fitness industries in Nashville through an array of avenues including personal training, group fitness, strength coaching, and nutrition coaching. Blake currently trains and competes for Strongman competitions, and furthers his involvement into he sport by coaching new athletes into the sport. Blake says, "When I found Stretch Zone I knew it would be a great fit. I love being in this industry in this city. I am blessed that I get to know all types of people from all walks of life. I get to sit down with them and address their needs and concerns individually and create a plan to help each one of them.
